Alex Schwazer
Summary/Reflection:
Alex Schwazer won the gold in Beijing on 2008 for racewalking. Not only did he win the gold but he beat the world record. When he crossed that finish line we was so proud of himself. The whole of Italy, his country, was proud of him. In the recent London Olympics he was kicked out for the use of illegal drugs. He gave a press conference saying that he was actually happy that he got caught. He says that drugs are not for him and saying that he didn't like deceiving the people around him. In my opinion, he did the right thing but not at the right time. If he would have confessed to his loved ones of his addiction they could have gotten him some help. I still admire that he told the truth though. He should seek help and get better friends than the ones who let him take the drugs.

Distance Education:Is a Virtual Classroom for You?

Distance Education: Is a Virtual Classroom for You?
You may want to take a class that your high school doesn’t offer. Under some circumstances, you can still enroll in the class – through distance learning.
Distance education means taking a class without physically present where it is being taught. Internet-based technology lets students participate in lectures and class sessions online from almost anywhere. Some high schools agree to recognize distance-learning credits when they don’t have the resources to offer a course themselves. Distance education is often used to increase options in rural areas and for AP® courses.
For you, it might mean doing self-tutorial at home in the evening, or participating in a class that is 1,000 miles away, along with other high school students. Check with your school counselor to see what’s available.

Student Success Statement

Student Success Statement
“You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right.”
Rosa Parks
Reflection:
I agree with this statement because when you are doing what is right your conscience is not bugging you do not do it. Every time someone is not doing the right thing their mind is reminding them of that so they doubt what they do. When they do it anyway they feel guilty inside because they either regret what they did and/or acknowledge that it was wrong. People who always do the right thing never experience these feelings so they often live very peaceful live knowing that when the time came they did what needed to be done.

Part 5
Additional Tips
Although work and going to school is challenging, it can be a rewarding experience if you use some foresight. These tips can help you handle the situation and make the most of your time:
Discuss your plans with your family. Balancing the demands of the school and work is easier with their support.
Start slowly: don’t commit to working a lot of hours immediately.
Avoid time conflicts by planning your class and work schedules as far ahead of time as possible.
Use you time efficiently. You can use 10 minutes waiting in a line to go over a few pages of assigned reading. If your job has a downtime and your boss has no objection, you can use slow periods to do schoolwork.
If you commute to your job on public transportation, bring your schoolwork with you so you can work along the way.
Be flexible and willing to make sacrifices. You may have to cut down on some other things you’d like to do because of your school and work commitments.
If you have too much on your plate, admit it. Then cut back as needed.
Schedule relaxation time. Everyone needs some downtime to stay happy and healthy.

Spring Break
During the spring break I slept a lot more than I normally would. I got a lot of needed rest. I also finished watching all the Sherlock episodes and continued watching Torchwood. I talked to old friends more and practiced my surprise dance for my 15 a lot. I hung out in the computer a lot and watched many old interviews. I got to listen to the majority of a long podcast. I watched many youtube videos by Danisnotonfire, Amazingphil, Charlieissocoollike, Shane Dawson, and Source Fed. They all made me feel a lot better.  During the break I also saw the start of Doctor Who season 7 part 2. All this made me feel better after hearing the horrible news that my favorite band had broken up. I felt really sad because I loved them a great deal.

CTW: Marion Jones Olympic Cheater
Marion Jones was an Olympic gold medalist and was adored by many Americans because she brought home medals for the country. They were so proud of her until allegations came out the she was using performance enhancing drugs in the competition. After years of denial of the drug use allegations she came clean and told the truth. She tells everybody outside of the court that she did take drugs during her time competing in the Olympics. Every American was ashamed of the once star athlete. She was stripped of her medals (3 gold and 2 bronze) and was sentence to 6 months in prison. In my opinion it was the right thing that the court locked her up and took her medals. It was unfair to the other women competing with her and were clean. It is shameful for the United States because they sent her to compete in their name thinking that she was qualified and talented. She has tainted the United States' reputation and her own families for having a cheater in their family. The only thing she did right was confessing to using drugs so that sped along the trial. She was still late though and I think that if the police would not have been investigating her she would never have told anyone about it.

Balancing High School and Part-Time Work
Part 4
He reminds students that “the activities and courses students choose vary considerably, so it’s important for young people to keep their individual situations in mind.” MacGowan continues,” For example, student actors should allow for the fact that they won’t have as much time during performance seasons. Student athletes need to remember the times of the year that they’ll be tied up with games and practices. Other students who are in classes that make considerable demands outside of the classroom must keep that reality in mind.”
